A character I thought up on a car ride. He's supposed to be a Fife, a canine species of the neighbor planet Harkia (hark-eye-uh) that doesn't get any taller than 5'5", male or female. Go into detail on the species some other time.
His birth color was a pale tan color, and when he got into his teens dyed it blue. He had a brother by the name of Galven whom he was in the same line of work as(construction on a small town scale). Galven had a mute girlfriend, Malline. Jalyn was also not born with the deer legs, horns, or serpents tail.
Jalyn had a wife and two children when he get got older, but lost them after running into demons that came from deep in the woods. Though his wife died the two children were alive and held captive by the demons. They had taken them back to their master, a resident semi-god unknown to anyone.
He was a semi-god just growing in power and required something to fuel his growth. He is a large, golden, six armed dragon clad in a warriors armor. He spent his time perched on his throne in his hidden chamber in the forest. He has a godly sight that allows him to see all that takes place in the vast forest. Anything that requires physical action he has his demons do for him. His name is Arliath (ar-lie-eth).
Jalyn had followed the demons back to the chambers after they stole his children, and found the semi-god. He pleaded for their return, but Arliath bargained with him, asking him if he'd do anything to get them back. After desperately telling him yes, Arliath reached down with one of his six hands and grabbed Jalyn by the right wrist. In a painful change of form, Arliath had turned his right hand into a Monolith Hand (a special hand made of stone that has many incantations etched into its surface, made to take and or harness magical energy). Arliath then told him that if he wanted back his children he would have to take the hearts of three Fife's, including his brothers.
The first few Fife's to exist were born of magic, and half of the hear of every Fife is made a green stone, powered by magical energy.
Jalyn had left the encounter in a torn state of mind. For a while he thought that the children would have already been killed by the semi-god. He was torn between killing his brother and saving his children. After a day of returning to his little town, not telling anyone what happened and avoidig conversation on his stone hand, he eventually broke.
The first two of his kind were not so hard in his state of mind. In the night, using the Monolith Hand, he would reach out to where their heart is, and use the hands ability to seperate the stone from the heart itself. The stone would then rip through the chest and land in his hand like a magnet. It was not so much their hearts being ripped that killed them, but the loss of the very thing that gave them life.
During the killing of the second person, Malline had come looking for Jalyn and witnessed the murder. Galven had also gone looking for him at the time. Catching her, Jalyn killed her. With the heavy dread and guilt stuck in his mind he drug her bleeding body through the wooded area, leaving behind him a trail. He dropped her body in a fair spot and hid in the area, not knowing what to do. But before long, he could hear the panicked, and then mournful yells of Galven nearby. Galven had stumbled upon the trail of blood, following it, worried about the whereabouts of his brother and Malline.
When Jalyn came back to where he had left Malline's corpse, he found Galven holding and weeping over her. With pain in his eyes Galven looked to his brother Jalyn and begged for help. Jalyn only looked on, feeling as if some part of him had died from what he had done. Regardless, he still thought of his children and aimed the Monolith Hand at Galven. As Galven reached out, lost and in agony, uttering his brothers name in question, he could feel his life slip away. The Monolith Hand ripped his heart's stone from his chest, and Jalyn held it solemnly in within the hand.
He gave one last look to the two of them, laying with eachother in their own blood. Jalyn pushed himself on in the direction of Arliath's chamber. Once there, he dropped the stones before him. As the demons scampered over to retrieve them from the floor, Jalyn reminded the semi-god of their deal. With the motion of hand, Arliath opened the cell that the children had been held in. The two children ran out, arms reaching out desperately for their father.
Just as the two were halfway to Jalyn, Arliath gripped the same hand firmly. The hearts of the two children were torn away and all life left their bodies. Jalyn looked on in pure horror as he watched them collapse to the floor.
After retrieving the children's hearts, Arliath tore the Monolith Hand from him and had his demons throw Jalyn from the chamber and seal it off. Jalyn lied in the grass shocked for a long time before getting back up. By then all feeling and emotion had left him, and he walked on out of the forest. He kept on untill he reached the edge of the mountain that his town and all the forest rested upon. For a few moments he stared down the edge of the cliff that marked the mountains end.
Before the now dawning sun, he let himself fall over the cliff side. After all that he had done and what had been done to him, he couldn't live with himself, or live knowing all of it had happened. As he descended through the air, something that had been watching him dived down after him.
He felt a sharp, swift pain as whatever is was dug its claws into his shoulder. Jalyn began passing out as he felt as if something was seeping into his body, infecting him. he had been out of it before he hit the ground.
When he woke up, he found he was still alive. Atleast as far as he knew he was. When he came to his senses, he was shocked to see the change of his features. Within moments, he begand feeling somethin strange in his chest. He looked on as his heart seemed to be being pushed out from his body, plopping to the ground and leaving to wound. Before he could do anything else, one of Arliath's demons grabbed the heart, grinning slyly and dropping a note in its place. The demon then took off in flight, ascending back up to the mountain top.
Jalyn picked up the note and read it. "There is no death for a demon like you."
(The symbol on Jalyn's stomach is the same symbol that can be seen on the helm of Arliath. With this symbol a part of him, he cannot come in physical contact with him.)
